Golf Course

An executive course, designed so that 18 holes can be played, challenges players with water hazards, narrow fairways and large trees.  Play is available and free for members, residents and their guests with no reservations needed. Simply tee up whenever you wish, check for wandering deer and enjoy a game with friends or a solo practice round. Community members gather twice a week for a game of co-ed golf, and summer community tournaments offer players the chance to win prizes and local fame. The course is available year-round, weather permitting.

Seasonal Swimming Pool

Open from Memorial Day in May through mid-September – or later if the weather allows – the heated pool is open only to owners, residents and their guests.  Hours are from 8:00 am to 8:30 pm seven days a week throughout the season. Adults-only swim times provide the opportunity for exercising or lap swimming between 8:00 am and noon Monday through Friday (holidays excepted). General swim times start at noon each weekday and at 8:00 am on weekends and holidays.

Clubhouse and Game Shack

The Clubhouse is at the heart of the community. It features a large open space holding up to 70 people and a full kitchen. It is open for use by members and residents who may wish to drop by and peruse the free lending library for a book to read while there or to take home. It provides a quiet space for friends to gather for a bit of conversation and is a convenient spot for conducting brief business meetings between private parties. Members and residents can reserve the Clubhouse for private events such as weddings, birthday parties or memorial services. The Clubhouse is the scene of several community events throughout the year. These have included St. Patrick’s Day potluck dinners, a 4th of July Parade and Picnic, an old-fashioned ice cream social, an Oktoberfest and a Christmas cookie exchange and musical. The game shack is a stand-alone building with a pool table and a ping-pong table. No reservations are needed for the enjoyment of a game with friends and family.

Walking and Biking

Residents and their guests can enjoy a walk or bicycle ride through the community or along the levee next to the Dungeness River. A scattering of benches overlooking the river provide an opportunity for rest or contemplation while watching the ever-changing scenery. Over three miles of tree-lined roadways within the community plus access to many miles of forested trails offer year-round pleasure. It’s not unusual to see eagles along the river, catch a glimpse of a deer on the trails, see hummingbirds at work or hear woodpeckers, blackbirds, and a variety of song birds while enjoying seasonal wildflowers and blooming shrubs.  In season, wild blackberries are available for the picking at several spots along the roads and trails.

Community Events

Residents, owners and their guests gather several times a year for food, fun and information.  These gatherings create a deeper sense of community as well as make living in Dungeness Meadows both more enjoyable and safer for the residents. A main dish is usually provided and those attending bring potluck dishes to round out the menu. Recent events included a St. Patrick’s Day Dinner with corned beef and all the trimmings, a 4th of July Parade and Picnic where people decorate their golf carts, bicycles, pets and themselves for a spin around the Clubhouse then enjoy a feast of hot dogs and summertime fare.

Each August the golf group throws a picnic to celebrate the winners of the summer tournaments.  An August Ice-Cream Social brings out the kid in all.  Ocktoberfest starts with brats and sauerkraut, and a December Holiday Cookie Exchange celebrates that season’s tradition of giving.  At the Annual Membership Meeting, held the last Saturday of June of each year, members discuss the business at hand while feasting on desserts, fruit or vegetable trays and assorted snacks donated by those in attendance.
